Summary: I am heavily inclined to not use Large Language Models (LLM) for any section of this website from the brainstorming phase to implementation. I do not use so-called AI tools for code generation, spell checking, or any other well-known use.

The Whole Story

My first experience with LLM was ChatGPT by revising my resume. The experience was largely pleasant. This was the beginning of 2025.

As my interest in this technology grew, I began to read more about it. I did several tests, from seeking advice to revising internship applications. Soon, I began to notice that requesting small changes to the output was more difficult than doing them myself.

Sometime later, I began to see more negative sentiment about LLMs online from scientists and indie creators. When I learned about the environmental costs, previous experience indicated that this technology would only increase the existing inequality gaps. As my online circles kept sharing about the effects of LLMs, I began to grow displeased with the technology.

As a big fan of sci-fi but most pointedly, non-human animals, the idea of non-human intelligence has fascinated me for a long time. Yet, what is being branded as artificial intelligence is nothing but. Paired with political tensions and rampant worldwide corruption, I consider the role of LLMs close to the widespread practice of slavery at the high of European colonialism. Where the manufacturing of low-quality commodity goods pushes out artisans and local businesses in favor of a cheaper version.

This change in perspective goes hand in hand with my gradual inclination to physical goods compared to their digital versions where the narrative of non-ownership is spun as something positive when in fact it gives monopolies control of customer goods.

The final nail in the coffin for my stance against LLMs is their environmental impact. I make no excuses to any sort of technology or approach that puts environmental goods and services at stake.

I am eternally grateful that my family’s roots are in a developing country. Unlike the Global North, there is no way to offset the cost of commodities. their fates are tied to the health of the natural world, and every year is increasingly more difficult for people to not pay attention as the floods become more frequent and the days grow hotter every winter. If I didn’t have this connection, I would probably be another blissfully unaware fool.

Because of these reasons, I feel that the best choice I can make for the people I love is total and complete rejection of this technology.
